This is, of course, not true. However, Les and I have had cats in the family most of our married years (almost 29).
Our current feline friends are Spot, named after Data's cat on Star Trek the Next Generation, and Rocky, named after Rocky the flying squirrel, because of the way he used to launch himself at Spot when he was a kitten.
Spot has a decided dislike of mylar balloons, due to a bad incident with his former person's boyfriend, who thought it would be funny to tie a bunch of them to his tail. He's not too fond of vacuum cleaners either... Spot tends to tap on your arm to get your attention and actually knocks at the door when he wants into a room with a closed door.
Rocky is the cleanest cat around, even though he was born on the 4th of July in a barn. He likes to watch birds on TV, climb, play in running water (even though it means getting wet) and is a talker. He tries very hard to communicate vocally.
Our old cat friends, Spider and Aimee, were our first real "family cats". Spider, a blue point Siamese, used to climb under the covers and put his paw around Les's neck. Aimee, a seal point Siamese, was very shy. When a tiny kitten on her first Christmas, Les happened to yell at her at the exact moment she bit into a live light bulb. From that day forward, she hid under the nearest piece of furniture whenever Les yelled. Spider and Aimee were leash trained and we used to walk them in Sefton Park, Liverpool.
