James Dunn was born in Fallen Timber, Pennsylvania,
August 29,1905. He worked in the coal mines when he was 12,
at the age of 14 he became the president of his local of the united
mine workers. He started to work for Chrysler in 1927. He was president of Highland Park, U.A.W. local 490. In 1937, he led the
sit down strike at Highland Park Plant, and many more strikes later on.
