Welcome to my genealogy page. My name is Anne Krawec, but most people call me "Goldie". I live in the central part of British Columbia, just south of the famous Wells Gray Provincial Park. I have been researching my ancestors since 1986 when I bought my first computer. Needless to say I have been through a half dozen computers and many more genealogy programs to get to this stage. Genealogy is my main interest since I retired in 1996. I have been to Salt Lake City several times and really enjoy all the information that a person can find at the Family History Library. In May, 2005 , a friend and I travelled to Bismarck, North Dakota and found many records at the Germans from Russia Research Building. The staff were a great help in directing me to records of Beresina, Russia that were transcribed from microfilm. Here I found and confirmed most of the work that I had struggled with for many years in Salt Lake City. Another passion that I have is to write my family history starting when my parents were born and working up to the present time. As both my parents have passed on this interest keeps me digging into my past constantly. I am always making notes, searching out people that may have known my parents, looking, researching, and writing it all down so that I may at some time compose my story. I have even started making homemade soaps at home. Perhaps I will be able now to relate on how my grandmother used to make her soaps from fats and lye water made from ashes. (I have several pounds of soap now and really like the challenge.) Some of the names that I am researching are the following: BAILEY - my Civil War ancestor who died in Andersonville Prison in 1864, back to Mass, in the 1600's. Check my Family Tree to see who I have in it. BAUMBACH - Germans from Russia, originating possibly in Rundeweise and then to the Dakota's in the mid 1800's DOW - my grandmother was a Dow, back to the first Dow's to North America in the 1600's. Check my family tree to see who I have. LUKAS - name recorded in Beresina, Bessarabia family book as being from Eich, Germany McMAHON - my children's surname. This branch of McMahon's lived in Ontario since mid 1800's, back to Ireland REISWIG - various spellings of Reusswig and Reiswick - Germans from Russia, to S. & N. Dakota and then to Alberta and British Columbia, Canada. Here is a link to the Seventh Day Adventist Obituary Index ROTTACKER - with various spellings of RODACKER, ROTHACHER & ROTHACKER, Germans from Russia, recorded in Beresina, Bessarabia and then to S. & N. Dakota and finally to British Columbia and Alberta Canada SPRAGUE - my great, great grandmother was a Sprague, the line goes back to Mass, in the 1600's and then to Dorset, England. Check my Family Tree to see who I have in it. If you find any errors please let me know. STARK - not much known on this line. My great grandmother was born in Germany, married in Wyoming and lived most of her life in Colorado THOMPSON - not much known on this branch, my great grandfather was born in Germany. He freighted out of Cheyenne, Wyoming to the Black Hills during the gold rush. He had a partner by the name of Street who had a store in Wyoming. Henry then moved to Colorado. He had something to do with a bank in Ault, Colorado in the early 1900's. I have many more ancestral lines in my family tree, but the above are the ones I have the most information on.
