Tribute to Dad

January 10,1937-January 6,1998
Thank you Joyce for this wonderful tribute,to "our" Dad. He would be so proud!

When the train goes through a tunnel and the
world gets dark,do you jump out? Of course not!
You sit still and trust the ENGINEER to bring you through!
Corrie ten Boom
My Dad LOVED the J-611!!! Can you tell?
He was a truck driver & operated heavy
equipment by trade, but he could hear a steam whistle
blow from miles away! He spent a lot of time
"chasing" the J & any steam train that
came through our beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

In 1993 he called me one day very excited!
He had heard a steam whistle & found
the engine in Staunton,Va.The Virginia Central
RR had come to town!Mom & Dad became good
friends with the owner Mr. Jack Showalter.
Every week-end you would find my parents
aboard the Powahatan car serving as car hosts.
