| Comments: George Adam Fife was with the Fourth through the Vicksburg Campaign. He became ill in September 1863 and spent the rest of the war in hospitals. He was mustered out with the rest of the Fourth in late 1864. |
| Comments: My dad has a sword from the Civil War and he is trying to find out who it belonged to. There are a couple of letters missing in each name, so it is going to be interesting to see if we can find out who it belonged to. The reason I picked your site first i because my dad lives in W.V. and that also is where he got the sword. |
| Comments: Uncle Will was killed but I can't find out where,or when, my GG Grandfather made it home with only a minor wound.He was discharged in Richmond.He made it across them Mts. to Charleston he wias within thirty miles of home stopped for the night,during the night someone stole his horse.He had to walk the last thirty miles,to Boone Co. |

| Comments: I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MORE INFORMATION ON CO. C 11TH REGIMENT. SALEM AYRES WAS MY GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER. HIS COMMANDING OFFICER WAS CAPTAIN SIMPSON. . HE WAS CAPTURED AT BULLTOWN, (SP?) WV ON OCTOBER 13, 1863 AND SENT TO ANDERSONVILLE WHERE HE DIED OF DYSENTARY , MAY 7TH,1864. ACCORDING TO MY GRANDMOTHER GERALDINE UCY AYRES HE WAS WITH OTHER SOLDIERS FROM HIS COMPANY , THE WIRT CO. PARKERSBURG AREA. TWO OF HIS FRIENDS FROM WIRT CO. ESCAPED AND SURVIVED THE CIVIL WAR. SALEM WAS SUPPOSED TO GO THAT NIGHT BUT FOR SOME REASON STAYED BEHIND. |

| Comments: My g-great uncle Barney Rollins was a Capt. in the 4th. I have a copy of his military record which among other things has his promotion to Capt. which has as its last approval the signature of W.T. Sherman.His sister married my g-grandfather, Rueben Dona ue who was in the 9th West Virginia Infantry. I'm glad I found your site. Darl Stephenson Manassas, Va. |

| Comments: I am looking for info. on Jacob Heffelfinger and his family tree. He entered the war 4-20-1861. There is a street named after him in Hampton, VA. He died in 1915. My Mother-in-laws' maiden name is Heffelfinger and we figured he must be related some how !!!!! |
