Related names are: Pendergast/Prendergrass, Miller, Shannon, Oster, and Nolder in Pennsylvania; and Daniels, Staff and Zinn in Illinois and in Missouri and Kansas, Collins and Sanders.
These are descendants of Barnabus McGuire, and his wife Jane Pendergast (Prendergass) who were married in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1781. Jane is believe to be a descendant of Garrett Prendergast. The McGuire family moved to Derry area of Westmoreland County about 1790. Some of the McGuire family remained in Pennsylvania, including counties of Westmoreland, Allegheny, Indiana, Fayette.
2nd generation: Phillip, Robert, Nancy, Pendergast, Margaret and Jane. Robert married Mary Oster; Nancy married Robert Shannon and Pendergast married Sarah Miller. Information on Margaret, Jane and Phillip unknown.
3rd generation: family of Pendergast: Phillip, Rose, Jacob, Pendergast, Daniel, George, Ann, Sarah. Except for Phillip and Rose, Pendergast took rest of family to Illinois, settling first in Rapids City and Pt. Byron, then Kewanee and Wyoming.
4th generation: Jacob's son, James Pendergast McGuire, my g-grandfather ended up in Colorado around 1880. Then moved to Atchison, Kans., with second wife, Mary Ann Collins of St. Joseph, Mo.
about 1885.
