Our  tour  was  immensely  educational, not to  mention  wonderfully  fun,  but  we were more  than glad to have finally returned  home.   We can't believe that we are now beginning our third year  of  homeschooling with  an eclectic  amalgamation  of  Charlotte  Mason  and  classical  education methodology.  Latin,  Nature  notebooks,  math,  science,  writing, lots of reading, silent and aloud, and of course, history, are all eagerly anticipated!
We have been having a wonderful time studying American History--beginning with our marathon month-long  Revolutionary War Tour in September of 1999.   Williamsburg, Lexington, Concord, Boston, New York, Philadelphia,  Monmouth, Saratoga, Trenton, Fort Ticonderoga, Valley Forge, Mount Vernon,  Washington, D.C. and many other sites were all scheduled stops on our tour!

When we first decided to homeschool, I was  immediately drawn to Sonlight Curriculum because of its strong emphasis on history.   Being Catholic, however,  I was  afraid  that  I  might   not recognize   those instances when a Protestant bias was undermining our Catholic faith.  I started by  listening to Scott Hahn on  the  internet,  was loaned Keatings' book, Catholicism and Fundamentalism, and somehow discovered CatholicSource--the ultimate Catholic Faith Message Board.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I really didn't begin to homeschool for religious reasons, but must admit  that the spiritual growth my family and  I have experienced is the greatest joy in my life--after our Lord, of course!  Reading  through  the Old Testament  with  my  children, my  then 9 year old daughter and 10 year old son, several friends and I were inspired to start up a Bible Study group at our parish.   We really didn't  feel  qualified  to lead  the  group  and  the  Lord led  us  to  the most wonderful family which has taken my group in hand.  Our God is AWESOME!
