What's New in Trey's Life?
Trey
graduated from high school spring of 2007 and went on to college the next fall.
He chose to attend one of the best business colleges in the country: the College
of Business at Southern Illinois University. (Depending upon how you compare
schools, it's somewhere in the top 5%-10%). He is majoring in management, the
same degree his mom and brother (Jon) earned. As a freshman, he lived at home
the first semester and then stayed in a dorm the second semester. For the
2008/2009 school year he decided to share an apartment with three of his friends
from high school.
Although
sports were a big part of Trey's life in middle and high school, he isn't
involved with any formal sports for the time-being. But, he does work out
a lot at the SIU Recreation Center which helps him stay in great shape.
Since the end
of high school Trey has been working at the Starbucks in the local Barnes &
Noble bookstore. During this past summer, however, he wanted some more
"action" and money so his took on a second job working security at a college
hotspot. It was exciting for a while but by the end of the summer he was
ready to get back to dealing with more normal hours at Starbucks.
Most summers
of Trey's life have had great family vacations. The summer of 2008 was different
because the family's vacation time was spent traveling to Texas for Jon's
wedding. While that was a kind of adventure in itself it just wasn't the same as
being able to go somewhere "cool" and hang out with his cousins. For example, in
one of the photos you see Trey with his sister and his three cousins in Cancun
during the summer of 2007. He did lots of cool things there like going to
Chichen Itza, parasailing, snorkeling, jet boating, and sampling various local
beverages. He believes that trip will be very hard to beat in the
future.
Even though
Trey didn't have an exotic trip during the summer of 2008, he did get to do make
an interesting trip during his most recent springbreak. For several days, he
headed out west with his extended family to see some of the sights of west
Texas. In the photo, he is in the little town of Ft. Davis, where an army
post was established in the late 1880s. Just to the right of Trey is a road that
supposedly is the highest paved road in Texas, higher than the elevation of
Denver. What a beautiful sight it was up there of the surrounding
mountains and mesas!
