What's Happening in Mark's Life?
Mark graduated from college
back in 2005 and soon began his first
full-time job: he is a policeman at Hurst, Texas (on the northeast
corner of Ft.
Worth). He was rookie of the year in 2008 and his ambition is to do detective work.
Mark stayed so busy at work that he hadn't
had a good, long vacation since he went to Kauai the summer after he graduated.
But, in the spring of 2008 he got away for several days with a van load of
others in his extended family and they headed way out to west Texas. They
stayed at Ft. Davis, rode horses, went to the MacDonald observatory, and rode up
the highest paved road in Texas (much higher than Denver, Colorado). It's
a different world out there with some amazing sights! For example, the
photo shows Mark, his grandfather, and his mom checking out the temperature of
the sand just below the surface at the Monahans Sandhills State Park. It
is well worth the stop right next to the interstate highway and consists of 3840
acres of sand dunes, some up to 70 feet high!
Mark spends a lot of time now at the
two-story house that he
owns in north-east Ft. Worth. Since he has an in-ground pool you can bet
that makes him popular with the other police he works with. It's not
unusual to see a bunch of them there having a good time. Let's hope the
neighbors don't ever have to go over and tell them to keep the noise down.
So, don't look for Mark in Carbondale
(Illinois) anymore but if ever find yourself in Hurst,
be sure you aren't speeding because that cop trying to pull you over and have a
warm chat just could your friend Mark!
