This is where my Winter line begins (and ends). Neither I, or any other of my distant cousins, can trace back any farther. Jacob Henry Winter is quite an enigma. Some of his descendants know him as "Jacob" and others know him as "Henry". Which is why I call him Jacob Henry. (I am one of those who believes he's Jacob.)

A cousin's work says that both Jacob Henry Winter and Elizabeth Keller were born in Wheeling, Ohio Co., (West) Virginia. A passed down story, which is believed to be written by one of Jacob's great granddaughter's as told to her by her father, my great-great grandfather, David Keller Winter, tells us that Jacob was born in "Virginia" in 1759. (So we agree on that score. :-) The rest of the story tells us about the slaughter of Jacob's mother and siblings, and his capture by the Indians. The fate of his father is unknown. You can read the story right here . The only known child of Jacob and Elizabeth is:

David was a frontier doctor. He was born in Wheeling, Ohio Co., (West) Virginia and died an untimely death near Jefferson Co., Missouri. He was married twice. His first marriage was to Jane Rosbrough. She was born about 1797 and died in June 1827. She and David were married on December 23, 1818 and had 3 children together. (Coming soon.)

Also coming soon is Elizabeth Keller's family. To visit David K. Winter, and his 2nd wife's family, of which I am a descendant, you can see them here .

More coming soon. If you see a connection, E-Me! I have further information and will be happy to exchange.
