VENICE--Why hadn't I visited this gorgeous place before? Gail and I loved it in October, and Ray enjoyed it with me in May. St. Marks Basilica is fabulous, Venice is charming, and St. Mark's Square is enchanting. Loved the dueling orchestras at night. The Doge Palace was under scaffolding, but it couldn't hide its splendor. The Grand Canal was everything the movies made me think it would be. Riding the Vaporetto to the Lido and out to Tronchetto parking was great. San Giorgio on it's own island is beautiful, and the Frari is magnificent.
