Pompeii's Forum - Vesuvius in background - Aerial view
From Rome we took a train to Naples and then another one to Pompeii.  What a feeling of life in the Roman Empire you get from visiting this place preserved for us by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D.  I first learned of Pompeii from The Last Days of Pompeii as a young girl.  It has fascinated me since then.  Here's a picture of the Caldarium at the Forum Baths.  I was delighted to be able to make this visit.  The audio tour was excellent, as they all are.
