Dave's Amateur Radio Page

Amateur Radio is a hobby that I have been interested in for a number of years. I was first licensed with the callsign VE1AHU in 1967. My current callsign VE1DB was issued to me in 1977.

Some of the modes of amateur radio operation that interest me are Single Sideband (SSB), Packet Radio, Radio Teletype (RTTY) and slow Scan TV (SSTV)

Another facet of amateur radio operation I am interested in is QRP (low power operation) A number of years ago I built up a one transistor cw transmitter and I had a lot of fun operating it on 80 meters. In December , 1998 I picked up the call sign VE1QRP to use in low power operation. I have membership in the following QRP Groups: Canada QRP #44 , Alaska QRP #459 , Adventure Radio Society QRP #481 , QRP - L QRP #1828 .

The Antenna System

The Antenna System consists of a 40ft heavy duty tower with a TH3-Jr 3 element beam. Mounted above the tribander is a homemade 4 element quad antenna for 2meters.
