Sometimes the only way to distinguish two like-named ancestors from each other is by examining their signatures. Veltin Stober Valentin Stober Junior Jacob Stober 10 September 1737, Philadelphia PA Oath of Allegiance upon arrival in America This is Valentin1 and Valentin2. Jacob is either Valentin1's brother or Valentin1's nephew, son of his brother Jacob. This Jacob is not Jacob2, who at age 15, was too young to sign the Oath of Allegiance. |

Adam Stober 24 February 1823 and 16 March 1829 Centre County, PA This is the signature of Adam4 Adam3 Jacob2. He signed in 1823 as a witness to the will of his father-in-law John Weaver. In 1829, Adam signed a receipt for his wife Catherine (Weaver) Stover's share of her father's estate. |
