This page organizes photos which were taken in the Czech Republic by Leona Choy, a member of the Iowa branch
of the Rompot family. The location of these photos is in or near Siroky Dul (pronounced Sheer-o-key Dool), the
original home of the Rompot/Rompotl branches. The last photo was taken in Policka, the nearest town that you will
find on a map. The people in the photos are our Czech cousins.

House #45 in Martenice, near Svitavy and Siroky Dul, where Leona's greatgrandfather lived. Jan Rompotl & his
wife Vera are with Leona |

"Jan and Vera took us hunting the old house where my great grandfather Josef lived, and probably whre grandfather
Anton was born. They did not know where to look either, only that it was in Martinice, near Prosec, not far from
Svitavy an Siroky Dul." Leona |

Siroky Dul, the village where Anton Rompotl (Leona's maternal grandfather) was born. |

The cemetery behind the church in Borova where the Rompotls attend. Some family are also buried there. People visit
it every Sunday before or after church service. |

"On the plain in S. Dul is the small village cemetery were Rompotls are buried. Graves are well kept up and
flowers planted. The cemetery is surrounded by a low white walland iron gate. Extreme right, without a marker stone,
Adolf's grandfather Josef (brother of Anton) is buried. He died during the Hitler occupation when markers were
not allowed." Leona |
