I had twin preemies at 29 wks. Mike had hydrocephalus, grade III bleed and much to our surprise, his surgery was canceled 24 hrs. before he was to have it! His body was finally taking care of the fluid itself. The doctors were very conservative about these things and wanted to wait to see if it would subside. He is now three years old and is as healthy as can be!

Our baby is in the nicu and was diagnosed with a grade 1 IVH. after the first week we were told there was some change in the size of her vintricles. this is pretty scary. im not sure if is a grade 3 or 4 now. it is encouraging to see morgan doing so well. the baby is a twin, and her brother is doing fine. they were born at 35 weeks. please write back.

I was wondering how old she is? I was born with hydro myself, being 23 y/o. I have little control of my left side muscle wise, but could be worse. Funny how I have a twin that has no problems. I hope yer daughter is doing great.

I just discovered your web site. We, too, have a daughter who was born prematurely. She was born 13 weeks early and suffered intraventricular hemmorhage, grade III on one side and grade IV on the other side. She developed hydrocephalus as a result and ow has a double shunt. Your web site was an encouragement to me! It's great to see a little girl who is doing so well. Our little girl is developmentally delayed (she spent 6 months in the hospital) but is progressing steadily. She, too, is defying the doctor's expectations. She's now 16 months old and is a delight to our family. Thanks again for sharing your story.

What a great little girl...I have been reading everything I can find on Premmies since my neice delivered 1-31-99 at 27 weeks. Our Cameron was 2.7 lbs and 16 inches. The Drs have no idea why he can so early. He will be 2 weeks tomorrow and is still a very sick little boy. The 1st week the only real major problem was his lungs, but this last week he somehow developed a hole in the right lung and also had a level 2 brain bleed. They have him sedated to stop all stimulation. My neice will not talk about this at all, she just tells everyone he is stable. She thinks everything is her fault for some reason. She has another little boy that is 15 months old and she is a wonderful mother. What can I do for her and her husband, where can I find something that will help them cope. I have found one couple in our hometown that has been there and are willing to help if my neice will let them. I am so scarred for them and for Cameron. I am sorry I took so much space but I have been over alot about premature babies and yours seemed so close to home. Thank You. CW
