One of the advantages of having a large family is the variety of interests to which you are exposed Each person in OUR family has introduced you to some of her own interests on her individual pages. What follows is an annotated list of links to other favorite things, things that we have enjoyed together as a family or which have special significance to us as a family. This list will be frequently updated....so check back to see where we have been and what we are doing.
SEATTLE, THE EMERALD CITY
Our home for the last 16 years and Nancy's "hometown." There are more pictures and links on our own Washington Statepages
RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS
OUR HOME FROM 1979 TO 1981. We lived in Raymondville,a small town about 30 miles north of Harlingen Texas. Nancy worked at Su Clinica Familiar and Mark taught in LaSara, a tiny village 10 miles from Raymondville. The Rio Grande Valley has some of the world's finest birding sites and Matamoros Mexico is about an hour's drive south of Raymondville.
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND
is barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico extending from Corpus Christi to the north to Brownsville in the south. We spent many weekends playing on the beach on South Padre Island.
CARTAGENA DE INDIAS
is where we met and married----our first home. Cartagena is a lovely walled city on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.

CAUSES WE BELIEVE IN
THE NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE CORPS
Nancy worked for the Corps from 1979 to 1981. The NHSC sends health care providers to underserved areas throughout the United States.
PROJECT HOPE
Project HOPE has provided health education, health policy research, and humanitarian assistance to 70 countries around the world. Nancy worked as a Health Educator in Cartagena Colombia in 1967-68. During this time she helped set up Family Planning Clinics, and taught health education techniques in the medical, nursing, and dental schools of the University of Cartagena.
PEACE CORPS
Mark and Nancy met while serving in the Peace Corps in Colombia, from 1965 to 1968. They both taught biology classes to secondary teachers.
America's Farmworkers
and Migrant Health. Nancy and Mark both volunteered for the United Farmworkers Union (UFW)in the early 70's and have long supported

monitors countries throughout the world regarding human rights issues.
Childreach International
We have sponsered two different children in Cali, Colombia, as a way to continue contributing to this wonderful country that we grew to know and love while we lived there.

Yes, we are card carrying members....grin!
Oxfam International
is one of our favorite charities. Oxfam provides people with the means to help themselves, be it a well, or seeds or technical help.
GreenPeace International
is a NGO (non governmental organization) which monitors the countries of the world on such issues as environmental hazards and endangered species.
Habitat for Humanity
helps people afford to own their own housing. Volunteers assist families in building their own home.
The Nature Conservancy
is one of Sarah's Favorites! She has been a member since whe was 5! The Nature Conservancy purchases critical habitats in various parts of the United States to keep them a part of our national heritage.
The Southern Poverty Law Center
This courageous organization keeps tabs on the hate groups that plague our society and provides legal assistence in bringing them to justice.
The Carter Center
President Carter has continued his peacekeeping efforts throughout the world via the Carter Center and the Center has become a training place for individuals who wish to contribute to this legacy.
