In July, Judy and I had a wonderful holiday in the Hamersley Rangers in the
Pilbara which is in the north of WA. It took us a couple of days to travel
the 1400 kilometres to get to Karijini on the inland route. We then had 3
nights in the Dales Gorge camp, doing 2 walks a day and then one night in the
Savannah camp.
The camps provided barbie facilities and long drops. Savannah had bush
showers which were canvas buckets with a rose which you could raise on a rope.
Drinking water was available at specific points. It took us a little longer coming back the coastal route but the last night with
the sun setting over the sea made it worth while.
This is a sample of one of the amazing rock structures. This one is
from Hancock's Gorge and each gorge was different in colour, strata and rock
structure.

The photos below were taken on the trip up

Looking back from taking the shed photo. Note how lightly laden (and clean) it is. |

Sun was about to start setting and we had turned off the main road with 100 kms to the park |

These photos were taken on the first day. Got a bit carried away with the
Snappy Gums which were fascinating with their contrasting colours and texture.
We walked the gorge from Fern Pool to Circular Pool and back on the west side
going there and the east coming back adding to the interest.

This montage covers the second day which started with an easy early morning walk
from our camp to the top of Circular Pool, included a refreshing dip at the end
of Knox Gorge and some of the photos give an idea of the difficulties faced when
clambering along the walls of the gorge.
