Cookies in a Jar

What you will need:

1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 to 1 cup rice krispies cereal
1/2 cup choc. chips
1/2 cup coconut
3/4 - 1 cup oatmeal
1 quart jar with ring & lid
a piece of material cut in a circle, which measures 6 inches across the center
(we traced a cup saucer)

Instructions:

Layer the above ingredients in the jar, place lid on jar, center material on top and screw on ring. Water color or decorate a small piece of paper or label and include the following instructions:

Pour contents of jar in bowl. Add 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 cup margarine or butter. Mix Well. Drop by spoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until brown.

This makes a wonderful gift and you can experiment with soup recipes and other cookie and brownie recipes as well and add them to a jar. People absolutely love them as a gift and the children feel like they have really taken part in the making!
