The Bible has been given so we would know about our standing with God. We can know we are saved! Isn't that worth knowing? And if you can know, don't you want to? Would you be willing to do what the Bible says for such an assurance? Give this matter your serious attention for the next few minutes. It could easily change your life!

For simplicity I'm going to one book of the Bible - the book of Romans. Within four chapters of this book you will find the bad news--and the good news--that will affect your eternal destiny.

1. YOU ARE A SINNER (Romans 3:23)"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

2. THE PENALTY OF SIN IS DEATH (Romans 5:12) "Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men for all have sinned." Death here means separation from God.

3. JESUS PAID YOUR DEBT FOR YOU! (Romans 5:8) "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus paid a debt he didn't owe. You owe a debt you cannot pay. You were doomed and damned in your own sins. But God loved you so much He sent His only Son to die for you and me.

4. YOUR PART (Romans 6:3-4) "Know ye not that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." Jesus died on the cross. He was buried in the tomb. And He arose again. You can apply Jesus' payment for your debt by being baptized into His death and like Jesus coming out of that water grave to walk in a brand new life.
