"Dogs are for life, not just for Christmas"
All Gorsebrook litters - no more than two a year - are born and raised in our dining room, with extensive handling (love and kisses), exposure to a wide variety of people, sights, sounds and surfaces (minimum of 7), including conditioning to the clicker. They are vet-checked and receive 1st vaccinations here at 6-7 weeks with certificates of same. They are dewormed, have nails trimmed and all pet pups are CKC registered on Non-Breeding contracts. Gorsebrook puppies are bright, outgoing, curious and ready to take on the world when they go to their pre-approved loving homes at 7-8 weeks! An extensive puppy raising program is provided to new pet owners-to-be to aid in setting up puppy's schedule, how to crate train, how to correct common problems and much more. Provided as an integral part of the adoption process, this puppy raising information gives owners a headstart on having a well-behaved puppy. Questions are welcomed at any time for the life of the puppy and buyers are encouraged to ask the breeder - Leslie - first. Owners of Gorsebrook dogs are asked to stay in touch, come for visits, send pictures & news often and ask questions anytime .....as I like to know how "my kids" are doing :)).
Gorsebrook PUPPY HEADSTART PROGRAMS
Search & Rescue K9 RANGER is a graduate of the Gorsebrook Advanced Puppy Headstart Program ~
The PUPPY HEADSTART (8-10 wks) and ADVANCED PUPPY HEADSTART (8-12 wks) programs are available to one or two select puppies from each Gorsebrook litter. The programs include foundation establishment in Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Watch (Attention), Let's Go (Heel) on & off lead, Hold, Over, the basic retrieve, crate training/housebreaking & more using the clicker/treat & play rewards and targets the initial critical learning period of 8-12 weeks. Content can be tailored to the specific puppy based on the owner's needs. These programs are suitable for any puppy, but are especially appropriate for pups which are going to be exposed to or work in advanced settings such as Obedience Trials, Hunt/Working Certificate Tests, Tracking, Conformation Shows, Search and Rescue and Therapy visitation volunteer work. However, the programs also are highly beneficial for ensuring a well-behaved pet. Please email Gorsebrook for more information on these special limited availability programs.
All puppies placed by prior reservation to pre-screened loving homes; litters are usually all reserved well in advance of birth. All Gorsebrook dogs and those from other kennels used at stud have OVC or OFA Hip & Elbow clearances and current DACVO/CERF cleared eyes. Gorsebrook pups are warranted for two years against genetic-based hip dysplasia and 4 years against PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy).
All pups are placed on the understanding of a life-time commitment to the pup on the part of the buyers, reflecting the life-time commitment by the breeder to each pup. I am always available to consult on all questions owners have about their dog and to assist in every way possible, throughout the lifetime of the dog. I ask owners to follow my care guidelines and ask their questions of me first! All pet pups are placed on CKC Non-Breeding Agreements.
