Dearest mother, thou hast left us,
And we deeply mourn thy loss,
Tho we hope to meet thee
At the Heavenly Cross.
Father, Thous has't taken our mother,
But Thou knowest best.
We know she was a Christian
And know she is at rest.
Dear mother, we miss thee,
We miss thy tender care,
And we know thou art resting
With our Savior some where.
Our dear old home is broken
Since thou hast gone away,
In Heaven we long to meet thee
On the Judgement Day.
Dearest mother, thou hast left us,
And thy loss we deeply feel,
But tis God who has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
Written by her son, E.B. Emerson. (PNC)
