Hi there! Come on in and have a seat. Kick your shoes off, if you care to, and help yourself to a cold drink and some snacks. Granny has always loved music.. any kind of music. As long as it is done well, Granny likes it. I have put links to some of my favorite artists here, and have tried to give you a little background on some of them. It is by no means complete, but I will be working on them and adding more all the time.
But there is more to music than entertainment. Thanks to a lot of some very fine musicians, there is some really important work being done. As you will see, the list of artists below include some of the work they are doing for others in the world. The projects they have taken on are as diverse as the people involved with them. I have also included links to other causes that various artists are involved in. I think, if you have the time to investigate, that you will find a new side to these wonderful entertainers that you never knew existed.

Hootie And The Blowfish
Aaah, Yes! Hootie and The Blowfish... they got their start right here in my home town amd they seem like a great bunch of guys. They come back "home" often and when they do, they always manage to get involved with some sort of community projects. Columbia loves you, Hootie, and Granny does too.

Sting
Another Sting site.
Sting is one of my all time favorites.. isn't he one of yours? He is not only a great artist, but a great human being as well. Sting is involved in several projects two of which are The Rainforest Foundation and Amnesty International.

Luciano Pavarotti
Easily the greatest tenor of our time and possibly of all time... One of the many charities and causes Pavarotti supports is WARchild

Willie Nelson
We all know about Willie's work with Farm Aid

Celine Dion
She is Canadian by birth but the world loves Celine. She puts her whole heart and soul into her music and audiences everywhere cannot get enough of this magic lady and her enchanted voice.

Greatful Dead
During their 30+ years on the road The Greatful Dead became involved in alot of causes including ecology and saving the earth. They were also involved in "Rock Medicine" a mobile medical facility to treat fans at their concerts and events.

Neville Brothers
I can't think of a family anywhere as diverse as the Neville Brothers. And yet they work, play, and live in perfect harmony. They believe in and live the true meaning of brotherhood. There are so many influences in their lives and in their music that the only word that really describes it is "Gumbo". And what a delicious mix it is.

Gipsy Kings
It is said that when the great comic, Charlie Chaplin, heard them he was moved to tears. I have no problem believing this. It would be difficult, indeed, to find a group who put more feeling into their music. If you have never heard them, you can get a tiny taste of their music by going to this web site.

Stevie Ray Vaughn
What can I say? Stevie has to be one of the greatest blues men who ever lived. We wish he lived still!
