The Voliva family of the Scotia community in Tyrrell County at the winter hog killing.

This is the "Big House" built by the Kemp family. The house was built about the turn of the century and is located on what is now Green Street (where I live). The house later became the Tyrrell Woman's Club and is now owned by Phillip and Nancy House (Heart's Delight Bed and Breakfast).

An early view of the town of Columbia looking from the top of the "Big House". You can see the home that now belongs to A.O. Ayers and the Columbia Christian Church.

A view of the "county bridge" crossing the Scuppernong River into Columbia.

A birds eye view of Columbia and Branning Lumber Company.

This is a picture of the children of William C. Spencer and Sabria Ann Simmons taken about 1905-1910. Pictured are: Ardie Spencer Voliva, Tremellor Spencer Voliva, Nelse Spencer, Minnie Spencer Voliva, Lois Spencer Smith, and Eddie Spencer.
