For those visitors to the "TYRRELL COUNTY ENQUIRER" who would like to know a little something about the person who created it and struggles to maintain it, I have added this page for you. I will attempt to tell a little about my personal history, hobbies, family, etc in the following paragraphs. That Fleming Guy PERSONAL INFO My name is James William (Jimmy) Fleming and I was born December 23, 1953 which makes me 40+ years old. My parents are Wilbert Fleming (deceased September 1990) and Effie Voliva Fleming and I have two brothers; Hal who lives in Rocky Mount,NC and Robin who lives in Raleigh,NC. I graduated from Columbia High School in 1972 and from Chowan College in 1974. In 1975 I married Barbara Roughton, the daughter of Ernest and Lottie Roughton. Barbara and I have been married 22 years and have two children; a son Ty (18) and a daughter Codi (14). I was employed with Tyson Foods, Inc for 22 years with my last position being Environmental Manager. I left Tyson Foods in March 2001 when the company decided to sell to another company. I used my severance package and unemployment to support me while I started a new career as the owner of Flemz Market & Deli located in Columbia. I have been operating this business since December 15, 2001. My wife, Barbara, is a very talented artist and operates her own custom lettering and sign painting business called "B.F. GOODBRUSH". We enjoy living in Tyrrell County and I have made the statement "the main thing I learned while I was in college is where I wanted to live" many times. MY INTERESTS I have never had a shortage of things that I enjoy doing. As a family we like to go camping at the beach, boat riding, playing guitars, having cookouts, and being with our families. We have always loved pets and at this time we have a blonde cockerspaniel that we call Sadie. I enjoy working at my new business (Flemz), metal detecting, genealogy, travel, working on our computer, playing guitar, and dining out with my wife and friends. In the past I have enjoyed bow hunting, duck hunting, fishing, basketball, volleyball, softball, swimming, woodworking, and song writing (believe it or not I have written a few tunes that I am proud of). COMPUTERS AND THE INTERNET I first became interested in computers when my wife purchased one to help her with her sign and lettering business. Our first computer was a 486 DX/CD rom/4mg ram/240mg hard drive/ windows 3.1/no modem. We used it for graphic designing, word processing, and I bought Family Treemaker software and got hooked on genealogy. Several months ago we upgraded to a new Sony PC 70 which is a really great computer. It operates very fast and has tons of memory. It also has a modem and we decided to get online in January 1997. That is when I learned about webpages, html, search engines, and all the other great stuff that is available in cyber space. I must also give my son Ty credit for getting me started with my homepage. Ty is very talented and knowledgeable about computers, software, the internet and was a great help when I was learning. I will list a few of my favorites below in no particular order and feel free to click on them for a visit.
