Comments: Edward White and his family were one of four Methodist missionaries sent to BC in early 1859. He built the first home in New Westminster, the first church, planted the first apple tree and his sister in law was the first school teacher in BC. His son, New on White was the first "white" baby born in New West'r (a black slave baby was born before him, but not counted!) Peter Latham and his family came from Toronto via Saskatoon, where he was the first of 6 settlers with John Lake to found this Temperence colony, in 1881, Dismayed by crop failures and Indian attacks, he moved to New Westminster, in 1887/8, where he laid out Queen's Park (he was a florist, by trade and had laid out the parliament gardens in Toronto, also (coincidentally?)called Queen's Park.

Comments: I am trying to find the HALL brother who is said to have moved to British Columbia from Ontario around 1940-1945. And I was told I should try to post a request here and maybe someone might know who I mean. Here is the information I have so far... I am trying to find a HALL family that originally came from England and moved to Ontario. There was two HALL brothers and a sister one brother and a sister stayed in Ontario while the other went to British Columbia. The brother that stayed in Ontario had a daughter in 1919 in Ontario her mother died when she was born or shortly after. We believe her Maternal grandmother helped to raise her. The Ontario HALL was employed in a management position and traveled with his job. He died in 1937 in Ontario. The HALLS in Ontario then moved to Saskatchewan, Her maternal grandmother died in Saskatchewan. Her maternal great grandfather died in a mental hospital. In 1945 her uncle was still living in British Columbia and could have been married with children. Please if any of this sounds familiar, please, please let me know. I'm trying to find anyone who can shed light on this family. Thank-you.

Comments: My great grandfather Simeon PEPIN aka Simeon PEPPIN aka Seymour PEPPAN was born in "Lansley" BC, according to his 1 April 1878 BC marriage certificate. Simeon was son of Etienne "PEPPIN" and Elizabeth "A Native Woman". Between 1827 and 1853, the Hudson ay Company had an employee named Etienne PEPIN posted at Fort Langley. Simeon may have had an older sister named Marie. Have photocopy of Marriage Certificate for Simeon and Emma: Simeon was 24 and Emma was 15. I need either the location of a birth record for Simeon or perhaps someone who knows his/her beans about Fort Langley history and/or could point me in a cyber direction to find the info myself. I've checked the BC online archives;that's where the marriag cert came from (with a little help from friends in BC -- the Island and the Lower Mainland). "Seymour Peppan" is the name Great Granddad used exclusively after emigrating to the US (Washington state) circa 1879, with wife Emma Sarah Houston. They had 8 kids all US born; my grandfather -- Donald Louis PEPPAN 1895/1957 -- was their youngest. And this is just the *tip* of the iceberg. Also looking for info of Emma's folks, Alfred John HOUSTON and Sophia "A Native Woman" aka "Sophie Giordan (surname illegible)" aka Sophie George. Alfred = blacksmith from Edinburg Scotland; listed in BCGS Pion er Directory as living in Moodyville in 1866. Sophie = lived at Burrard Inlet 1 April 1878; mother of Fred A HOUSTON, Emma Sarah HOUSTON, and William HOUSTON. William's descendants can be found, primarily, scattered between Victoria BC and Duncan BC.
Comments: My husband's great aunt Mina M. Hinds was b. in NY and moved to BC. In 1910 she married as Mina Miller to a Frank Woods, and in 1915 she remarried to an Archibald Layden. After that we know she was married to an Alexander Sanderson and then she married ag in shortly before her death in the early 1950's. She was struck over the head with a pop bottle by a boarder or at least that is what we were told. A really nice person looked up some of it for us, but she ran out of leads after the Mr. Sanderson. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
