• I am very grateful to Mecklenburg County Mapping/GIS Services and The Carolina Room of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Library, for posting historical maps of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County towns online. However, it was frustrating, learning how to perform productive searches. To see a listing of all available maps, type a period (and nothing else) into the search box.   If you prefer to use the search engine rather than view a list of all maps, I suggest you try the keywords "Carolina," "Charlotte," "County," or "Township" for good search results. Place names with spaces, such as "Mecklenburg County," "Long Creek" and Steele Creek" will not yield results, but single words such as "Mecklenburg" and "Creek" will.
