Looking at all these Mecklinburg Websites is very interesting. I love all the history that I'm learning from your sites! My earliest ancestor was from Mecklinburg County, William Elisha Herrin who married Mary Agniss Abimlick. He was a teacher, farmer, and preacher. Mary Agniss Abimlick does not have any family members that I can trace. I read on a Benton County, TN website that she may have been Cherokee and took a Christian name when she married. I currently reside in south central PA., but I was born and raised in Raleigh, NC. My familey moved from Virginia, around 1750, and we believe the family name was changed also. From "Fitzjeffreys/Fitzjeffries" to "Jeffreys". The last Jeffreys that I kn w about was a William Jeffreys and he depart Virginia around 1750. am doing search for the Garrison family of New Brunswick,NJ. John married Lydia Ferguson in 1858, I think he was born in 1836, they had two children,John Jr. and Sarah ( Sara )who married a Wilson of Jersey City. John Sr, put in his marriage lic that his father was born in NYC. but gave no name. I think he was shot in the war between the states. He di d in 1912 in Jersey city nj, and is burried in NorthBrunswick,NJ any help would be appreciated Jim Garrison

I am descended from John Allen, son Wm. Sample Allen and his daughter Sarah Allen whose 2nd marriage was to John Davis in 1792. John Davis purchsed 100 acres of land from W.S Allen in 1796. It was part of a 600 acre land grant via King George III. Prop rty was adjacent to Hez. Alexander in east Mecklenburg. My ancestors and myself were raised on that property until the last parcel was sold in 1995. I have a copy of an extensive 1932 Geneo of Davises to that date.
