I think one of God's greatest blessings to me has been my forever friends: Gautami, Kalpana, Meera & Susheela (in alphabetical order!). We've been friends for thirty years. Right through school and college, marriage and child-bearing and child-rearing, in spite of all of us studying & later working in completely different set-ups. Two of us are successful doctors, two lecturers, one in Chemistry & the other in Psych, & the third managing a Nursing Home & Diagnostic Centre. We were really lucky to have been living in the same place for so many years! We were actively involved in one another's weddings. We had our babies within months of each other, our husbands became friends, so did our kids - and we've shared each other's ups and downs. Now one of us is in the U.K and one in New Zealand, one was in the U.S for some time, but it didn't make a difference to our friendship. Except that we do miss one another! We are still there for one another. As the popular Hindi song goes, "Yeh Dosti Ham Nahi Chodenge" |
