With St.Francis As Our Guide, Did We Have Wisdom On Our Side!!! |
|
|
|
Calling ALL students of
St.Francis Degree & Junior Colleges, both Secunderabad & Begampet, India especially the BA Class of 1977 ! Remember how Sr.Bridget used to call us her most OBSTREPEROUS class!
Wouldn't it be lovely if we could all get in touch after these 22 long & eventful years? (God! Are we really that old! Seems like just the other day...)
Remember me? The Madcap: Sunila Oommen?!!
Well, you wouldn't recognise me if you saw me now, I have grown so dumpy - three times my original size! But underneath, I am still the same madcap - no change - much to the embarrassment of my three teenage kids!
My days at St.Francis were the most carefree ones in all my life-how I loved everything about it! And I always think of the love that the Sisters showered on us- Sr.Valeria, Sr.Maria, Sr.Blandina, Sr. Romana, Sr. Mauricia, Sr.Rainelda & both The Sisters Lucy!
I earnestly hope this will be the beginning of a
GRAND RENEWAL!!!

Those were the days my friends, we thought would never end, how we loved to sing and dance and play Anthakshari outside Room 18 and keep haunting Dasmesh Stores! we'd make Shantamma bring "messages" disrupting our classes, we'd go to the movies or sit in the Canteen instead of attending lectures remember all those parties picnics and excursions! and the classes we really enjoyed- especially Literature the conniving Iago and Othello's green eyed monster that killed Desdemona- Lytton Strachey's Queen Victoria Poetry - especially Gray's Bard, Browning's Andrea Del Sarto and Milton's Lycidas, (Could we ever forget Miss Neeraja?) and Psychology - all that Freud - remember the Pleasure Principle turning into the Reality Principle! those never ending discussions! Pol Science- how we went crazy with Plato and Aristotle and all those forms of government!
All that last minute swotting! and slogging in the library! Those were the days when we had the world at our feet! Those were the days Oh yes, those were the days!
And now let me implore you in the words of the Bard (Gray's- not The Bard) "Stay, o stay, nor thus forlorn Leave me unblessed, unpitied here to mourn..." Please post your message!
