Graduation 2007!
Ian started school in 1993 as a student of St. Olaf's Elementary. The picture on the left was his first day of school.
He graduated in 2007 from St. Joseph's Catholic High School. The picture on the right was his last day of school.
Wednesday was the Baccalaureate Mass at St. James church in Ogden, Utah. Our new Bishop (John Wester) celebrated the Mass. Ian (as a class officer) participated by doing the second reading.

Ian was also chosen to receive two departmental awards -- Science and History.

In awarding the Science honor, his teacher noted that he had been in her classes for four years and he was a challenging student because he asked tough questions; although as often as not he found the answers and brought them in as well.
His history teacher, Mr. Hart, noted that Ian was receiving the award for participation. However, as Mrs. Stewart had noted, they had to begin with some negotiation about what "positive participation meant". Both of them captured Ian very well and we are proud of his awards.

For Friday's Graduation Party, Cathy made an ice-cream filled cake in the shape of a mortarboard and diploma.

It was delicious!
Ian received some lovely cards and gifts including cash, a U of U blanket (from Aunt Beth) and a laptop from us.
Graduation Day was June 1, 2007 at St. Joseph's Church in Ogden, Utah. The kids gathered in the basement to get ready.
