Doctrinal Statement

New Hope Ministry is an apologetic Christian ministry aimed at educating the Body of Christ on the reasons why we have the hope that lies within.  Additionally, it confirms the relationship between science and religion; true science and true religion can be reconciled.  The Christian should be the most educated of all people, ready to give a reasoned defense both for the faith as well as for the science behind that faith.  There is no need for the Christian to feel defensive concerning his faith for it can and must be defended, promulgated, and stated in such a way that all can understand and come to a true knowledge of God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Church.  What follows is our doctrinal statement, and each statement ends with supporting citations from the Bible.

At New Hope Ministry, we believe,

1.  The Bible.  We believe that the original writings of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, were breathed out by God to prophets, apostles, and apostolic associates by means of the Holy Spirit, who chose the words employed according to the personality and background of the human author, and that these writings were without error and are of supreme and final authority in the lives of believers in all ages (2 Timothy 3:16).

2.  God.  We believe that there is but one true God, who eternally exists as three distinct persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who exclusively share in the work of creation, maintenance of the Universe, redemption and judgment of all.  We hold to the doctrine of the Trinity as it is taught in the Bible.

3.  Man and his need.  We believe that man was created in the image of God, but because of Adam's sin that image was damaged, and that all human beings are now born with a sinful nature, are unable to function in moral responsibility before God, and need a spiritual regeneration before they can become what they were meant to be.  Genesis 2:17, Genesis 3:17-24, Romans 3:23).

4.  Man made in God's image.  We believe that man was indeed created in the image of God, but that it is a spiritual and not a physical image that is denoted.  We believe that God is a spirit and spirits do not have flesh and bones.  God is invisible.  God made man able to share (imperfectly and finitely) in His communicable attributes such as life, personality, truth, wisdom, love, holiness, and justice.  Man has the capacity for spiritual fellowship with God.  (Genesis 1:26-27, John 4:24, Luke 24:39, John 1;18, 1 Timothy 1:17, Colossians 1:15).

5.  The Son.  We believe that the Eternal Son entered the human race as the virgin born son of Mary, begotten by means of the Holy Spirit without the need for physical sexual relations, was named Jesus, fulfilled Old Testament prophesies of the Messiah, was rejected by Jewish leaders, condemned by Pontius Pilate, crucified by the Romans, buried in a borrowed tomb, but on the third day arose bodily from the dead in accordance with the predictions of the Old Testament scriptures.  He exists eternally with two natures - Man and God (Matthew 1;18, Matthew 9:11, Matthew 12:14, 1 Timothy 6:13, Matthew 26:54, Matthew 27:27-50, Matthew 27:59-60, Matthew 28:6-7, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

6.  Redemption of Man.  We believe Jesus died upon the cross in a sinless substitute for sinners of all ages and times, and that the Father was thus, by means of the Spirit, reconciling the world to Himself.  All who receive the risen Jesus as Lord, by faith alone - without any works of their own - are sspiritually born and personally adopted into permanent membership into the family of God.  (John 3:16, 2 Corinthians 5:18, Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Corinthians 5:17).

7.  The Holy Spirit.  We believe that the resurrected Jesus ascended to heaven and on the day of Pentecost sent the Holy Spirit to indwell, guide, teach, intercede for, and empower all who believe by imparting to them the life of Jesus so that the may live godly lives and engage in loving service to any who are in need.  (Galatians 4:6, 1 Peter 1:12).

8.  Ordinances.  We believe that salvation is a free gift of God to all who place their faith in His Son Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  (Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16).  Faith is then demonstrated through works; however, good works are not in themselves required for salvation.

9.  The Christian's Responsibility.  We believe that all believers have been made new persons in Christ through spiritual rebirth.  We are still capable of acting on the urges of the sinful nature (the flesh) with which we once were identified.  When we do so, we can produce only works which are not pleasing to God.  We can choose, rather, to rely upon the Holy Spirit and His love living within us.  The choice leads to a fruitful life that glorifies and pleases the Father.  (2 Corinthians 5;17, Romans 7).

10.  The Future.  We believe that Jesus Christ will return to this earth in visible, human form, judging the evil of the world, calling the Church into eternal companionship with Himself, and recalling Israel, through judgment and cleansing, into fulfillment of the prophetic promises of a millennial kingdom on the Earth.   The prophetic predictions of the Kingdom describe both the present spiritual blessings upon the Church and the future literal establishment of this kingdom.  It will conclude with a last resurgence of evil which will be totally and finally overcome by God, and the New Heaven and the New Earth will be created in which righteousness along shall eternally dwell.  (Mark 16:19, Job 19:25-26, Matthew 15:27-28, Matthew 24, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8, Revelation 20).\

11.  Resurrection of Believers.  We believe that all human beings will be raised from the dead, at their proper time, to participate either in the eternal life prepared for those who have been redeemed, or to participate in the eternal punishment reserved for the devil and his angels.  (Job 14:12-15, Psalm 16:9-10, Psalm 49:15, Romans 4:16-21, 1 Corinthians 6:14, 1 Corinthians 15:12-57).

12.  The Witness of Creation.  We believe that creation - all that God has created in the heavenns and the earth - all independently testify of the existence, majesty,  and goodness of God.  Far from being at odds with religion, recent discoveries in all areas of science are emphatically declaring the existence of God.
