While deer peek from thickets
of secret dark and brown,
And sigh to see the spirit
that knows no fault or frown.
An open, tender blossom,
a heart that hears each cry
A friend to help the fallen;
She never questions why.
LOYALITY
Yesterday is History. . .
Tomorrow is a Mystery. . .
Today is a Gift. . .
That's why we call it the Present
There is no king who has not had a slave among his ancestsors, and no
slave who has not had a king amongst his.
-Helen Keller
It takes a special kind of person
To care enough to take the time for others
It takes the kind of person
Who in a quiet and sincere way
Will do whatever it takes to help somebody out
Someone who knows that giving makes living a pleasure,
and that thoughtfulness is the best measure of a person
A day never goes by without the thought
of how much it means to have someone like you
Your warmth, kindness, understanding and above all, love
mean more than words could ever say
You bring an easy kind of joy
With your very special way of being you

1. Just for today I will be happy. Abraham Lincoln has said that most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. Happiness is from within; it's not a matter of externals. 2. Just for today I will try to adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my family, my business, and my luck as they come and fit myself to them. 3. Just for today I will take care of my body. I will exercise it, care for it, nourish it, not abuse it nor neglect it, so that it will be a perfect machine for my bidding. 4. Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. 5. Just for today I will exercise my soul in three ways; I will do somebody a good turn and not get found out. I will do at least two things I don't want to do, as William James suggests, just for exercise. 6. Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress as becomingly as possible, talk low, act courteously, be liberal with praise, criticize not at all, nor find fault with anything and not try to regulate nor improve anyone. 7. Just for today I will try to live through this day only, not to tackle my whole life problem at once. I can do things for 12 hours that would appall me if I had to keep them up for a lifetime. 8. Just for today I will have a program. I will write down what I expect to do every hour. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it. It will eliminate two pests -- hurrying and indecision. 9. Just for today I will have a quiet half-hour all by myself and relax. In this half-hour sometimes I will think of God, so as to get a little more perspective in my life. 10. Just for today I will be unafraid, especially I will not be afraid to be happy, to enjoy what is beautiful, to love, and to believe that those I love, love me.
Any good, therefore, that I can do or any
kindness that I can show to any human
being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor
neglect it, for I shall not pass this way
again.
In the darkness and the silence of the night I never feel alone Because I have learned that the silence is Something I can call my own Within the silence of its walls I can live undisturbed and free And as I speak my thoughts to it The silence whispers softly back to me It fills my mind with peace and calm Throughout the night hours till the dawn At times it is like an endearing song That I seek because it seems to say The many things I cannot hear When going through the day The silence helps me to appreciate That I am alive and free And the comfort that it gives to me Is worth much more than silver or gold.![]()
