As we were working in the Italian records, we found very little change in spellings of surnames or given names. However, as we got back to about 1817, the records went from Italian to Latin. The spelling changes every time depending on the sentence and the relationship between the people being recorded. So we have come up with a uniform spelling for Surnames and Given names.
What follows is a partial list of the most used names in Latin and the Italian translation to the best of our ability. All names in our record are listed in Italian. So locate your Latin name and see what the Italian form is and then you will know how to locate your names in our database.
