i really appreciate any help i can get i am and have been looking for my son for a long time. i promised the adoptive parents i would not try to find or contact him until he was grown and i have kept my part, but they also promised me they would explain my situation at the time of the adoption when he was older. all i want is to see or talk to him or even know he is alive and well.

I would like to find my birth brother. We are by the same birth mother and father. My brother was born the year after my birth, I believe. My natural mother named him Michael Kelly. The social worker called my adopted mother to ask them to adopt Michae , but my parents were unable to do so at the time. I am not really sure of the correct way to go about finding him. Maybe, the Tennessee records will be open soon!Thanks alot!

I hate to tell you this, but TN is NOT an open records state. If you were born on or before March 13, 1951, you can get copies of your records. If you were born AFTER that date, we're still dealing with the old hierarchy within the State that believes adoptees DID NOT EXIST before they were formally adopted. In 1997, records were opened for abou 4 or 5 days until such time as a Nashville adoption agency and several birth family members stopped the new law from passing in the TN Court of Appeals. On June 3, 1999, the case was taken before the TN Court of Supremes to be argued once again by both s des. We're awaiting a final decision now. Hope for the best!
