According to WILLIAM PENN's "conditions or concessions," those who came as
servants with the first adventurers were entitled to 50 acres for rent at the
end of their service. At least one of the three BALDWIN brothers, JOHN,
acquired his land that way. THOMAS BALDWIN bought his land and house from
MICHAEL IZARD on 2nd and 4th mo. 1684 (or June 2, 1684) at the time of his
marriage to MARY LINVILL. The land flanks what is now known as Baldwin's Run, a
branch of Chester Creek in present day Delaware County, Pennsylvania and is
three miles down the creek from Linvilla Orchards, cite of the 1982 anniversary
reunion of LINVILLES. This Baldwin land is probably where JOHN and THOMAS
LINVILL grew to maturity with their seven half brothers and sisters (including
two sets of twins). It is also likely where MARY LINVILL BALDWIN is buried. She
probably died about 1713 because THOMAS BALDWIN married MARY BEEL in 1714.
The Taylor brothers, surveyors of William Penn's sons, laid out the
boundaries of JAMES HENDRICKS 1100 acres of land on Conestoga Creek in October
1716 and apportioned 200 acres each to THOMAS BALDWIN, JOHN HENDRICKS, JOHN
LINVILL and THOMAS GALE. No deed was ever recorded for it either.

Despite the number of oral histories which have indicated that the Linvilles
were French or Welsh, the only LINVILL/LINVILLE records which have been found
across the Atlantic are in Sussex and Middlesex County, England. RICHARD
LINVILL was born about 1653-4, the apparent son of THOMAS and ELIZABETH
(WICKERSHAM) LINVILL who were married the 25(28) th day of May, 1648. RICHARD's
birth should have been recorded in the Second Fletching Parish Register.
However, much of it has been eaten by rodents. Cassandra, ab older daughter of
THOMAS and ELIZABETH, was baptised in the parish the 20th day of August, 1653.

!WILL DATED 9 JUN 1753 - PROBATED SEP 5th 1760, MENTIONS HIS ELDEST SON,
WILLIAM (ET. P. 6).
!Birth date from LDS Microfiche - 1690.
!Estimate: Assuming that Margery Hannum was born about 1710 - could have been 3
to 8 years earlier. But the Hannum Genealogy says that Anthony Baldwin was
married first to Hannah Coburn before 1712, so he was first married when he was
18 to 20 years old. 2nd he married Margery, who we can assume was about 18
years old - so the marriage was in about 1728 and Anthony was 36/38 years old.
John was born in 1730, Thomas was born in 1742/3 and at that time Margery was
