My Cadle Family

My husband is from a line of Cadle's that is from Claiborne County, Tennessee.

3. Garrett Clifton Cadle b: 18 Oct 1883 Shawanee, Claiborne, TN
m: 22 Aug 1915 in Lee Co., Va to Martha "Mattie" Sheperd
d: 4 Jun 1960 Big Stone Gap, Va.
* one record that was in the possession of one of G.C. daughters said that he was born in Aug. but other Census and other records indicated October. He is buried in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens located in Big Stone Gap, Va.
The children of G.C. and Mattie are: Marie , Willard Clifton, Selma (still living married to a Stinson living in Cincinatti, Ohio), Vivian Inez, Fay Jeannette, Donald Eugene "Jimmy", and Shirley Ann (still living married to a James Lester).

m: Eliza Greer ca. 1877
d: before 1891 in Claiborne Co., TN.
* Faye Cadle King told me his middle name was Vernon and he was a Jr. I do not believe that he was a Jr. She told me she had some records. She did give me some but I have not been able to verify the difference with the name.*

m: 19 Feb 1938 to Martha Jane Brewster in Claiborne Co., Tn
d: abt Augst 1880 in Claiborne Co., TN
children are: Thomas J. b: abt 1839 m: Ellen P Bromme & Lottitia Quenesberry Stewart; John b: 1843 m: Ludinda; Emily J. b: 1847 m: 3, Jan 1867 Timothy G. Sivels; Sarah Virginia b: 1849; Martin Vernon b: 1853 m: Eliza Greer; William Franklin b: 4 Jan 1856 m: 30 Nov 1883 Martha Ozinia King; d: 13, Jan 1926;Charles b: 1858; Samuel b: 1860 d: Jan 1880; and Peter b: abt 1862
All of their children were born in Shawanee, Claiborne Co., TN.

6. James A. Cadle b: 27 Jan 1797 b: NC
m: before 1810 to Martha �Patsy� Bray
*James was found living with son Mark in the 1850 Census. He was found in the Mortality Schedule for Claiborne Co., TN in 1860 at age 94. The story goes that James signed over all of his possessions to his son Mark so that he could live out his life. The rest of James children children except Martin moved on to Texas and Missouri.

James and Patsy�s children are: Mark b: 31 Mar 1810 m: 9 Aug 1838 in Lee Co. Va. To Mary Polly Covey d: 15 May 1887 in TN; Martin B. see above #5; Green Berry b: 1820 m: 9 May 1848 to Elizabeth J Moore d; in Texas; Jane b: abt 1824; Martha b: abt 1826 m: 6 Oct 1844 to William Jones d: 1880; Mary Ann b: abt 1828 m: 1 May 1840 to Harry Lester; Julia Ann b: abt 1830 m: 27 Jul 1848 to Robert Lester;
and Millie b: abt 1831 m: Isaac Ely.

7.Zachariah Cadle b: abt 1760 in Surry NC
m: before 1795 to Rachel Gaither.

*Zachariah served in the American Revolution 19 Jul 1781 to 19 Oct 1782. He was a Private in Capt Carter�s Co. 10th Reg NC Continental Line. This is according to records of the NC Registry 2:579. Then he moved to Jackson Co. MO in 1828 with some of the other Cadles of Claiborne County, TN. The 1830 Census says he came from TN to Missouri in 1828.

Zachariah and Rachel�s children are:; David L. b: 10 Jan 1795 in NC m: Ester Lynch abt 1815 d: 20 Sep 1842 in Jackson Co. Missouri.
Zachariah, Jr. B: abt 1787 in Surry NC.
