But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no

the day of the Lord so

escape. 4. But you,
brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as
a thief. 5. You are all sons of
light and sons of the day. 6. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do,
but let us watch and be sober.
7. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk
at night. 8. But let us who
are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love,
and as a helmet the hope of
salvation. 9. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation
through our Lord Jesus
Christ, 10. who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live
together with Him.
11. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also
are doing. 12. And we urge
you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you
in the Lord and admonish
you. 13. and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake.
Be at peace among
yourselves. 14. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly,
comfort the fainthearted,
uphold the weak be patient with all. 15. See that no one renders evil for
evil to anyone, but always
pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.16. Rejoice always,
17. pray without ceasing,
18. in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus
for you. 19. Do not quench the
Spirit. 20. Do not despise the prophencies. 21. Test all things; hold fast
what is good. 22. Abstain
from every form of evil. 23. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify

your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming

to be entrusted with the
gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.
5. For neither at any
time did we use flattering words as you know, not a cloak for coveousness-God
is witness. 6. Nor
did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might
have made demands as
apostles of Christ. 7. But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing
mother cherishes her own
children. 8. So, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to
impart to you not only the
gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.
9. For you remember,
bretrhren, our labor and toil; for laboring night and day, that we might
not be a burden to any of you,
we preached to you the gospel of God. 10. You are witnesses, and God also,
how devoutly and
justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe; 11.
as you know how we
exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does
his own children, 12. that
you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

I will l repay, says the Lord, And again, The Lord will judge His people.
31. It is a fearful thing to fall
into the hands of the living God. 32. But recall the former days in which,
after you were illuminated,
you endured a great struggle with sufferings; 33. partly while you were
made a spectacle both by
reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of
those who were so treated;
34. for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the
plundering of your goods,
knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves
in heaven. 35. Therefore
do not cast away your conmfidence, which has great reward. 36. For you
have need of endurance, so
that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise;
37. For yet a little while, and
He who is coming will come and will not tarry.

Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they
watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so
with joy and not with grief,

this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied

would come to you, 11. searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit
of Christ who was in them
was indicatingwhen He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and
the glories that would
follow. 12. To them it was revealed that, ot to themselves, but to us they
were ministering the things which
now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel
to you by the Holy

gird up the loins of

be brought to you at the

concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange

for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is
blasphemed, but on your part
