My Quilts
One of my passions is creating wall-hanging
quilts.
I like to try different styles and different
ideas.
But it seems I always forget to take a
picture of the final product,
so most of the pictures here are only the
incomplete picture.
Here is my most recent one;
a bed-size quilt that is a wedding gift for a
former student
who is like a daughter to me.

"Window on the World"
This was my first quilt. A gift to my friend,
Sasa,
who I met during the war with
Bosnia.

"Autumn Forest"

"A Day at the Beach"
This one was a gift to my dear friend Al,
who seems to be eternally in need of a quiet day
on a deserted beach!

"Huckleberry Hunt"
This one was a birthday gift to my sister in
Idaho,
where we took the kids huckleberry picking
one summer when they were young.

"Garden Path"
This one was actually inspired by an ugly piece of
fabric
that I thought would make an excellent wrought
iron gate,
which, ironically, doesn't even show up in this
photo!
(The color is so much better in real
life!)

"Greenhouse"
This has got to be one of my favorites.
I finished it off with a rich butterscotch
border.

"Greenhouse #2"

"Havasu Falls"
This one is of Havasu Falls, Arizona,
one of the most beautiful places on
earth.

"North Shore"
This one is a "watercolor" quilt of the north
shore of Kauai.
It is made entirely of 2" pieces of fabric, which,
when sewn together are only and inch and a half
square.
I saved swatches of fabric for an entire
year
before I could make this one.
Here is the inspiration photo:

"Windy Bay"
The challenge of this one was to make tiny bits of
blue fabric
give the feel of a wind-swept bay. I wanted it to
look like
you could smell the salty air.

"Litter Line"
This was a sort of a joke for the office. My boss
is a cat lover,
and our patients seemed to be forever waiting in
line for the bathroom .

"How Much Is that Kitty in the
Window"
This was a Christmas gift for my cat-loving
boss
who also loves the color red.

"Rock Garden"
This is another of my favorites. I loved the
challenge of
creating a feeling of depth with just the use of
flat fabric.
I used smaller prints in the back and larger
prints toward the front,
letting just the smallest bit dangling out of the
frame,
giving the plants a little life of their
own.

Full Moon Forest
This one was a gift to my son's girlfriend,
Jamie.
