Durant
Names with this family so far are
Cravens, Durant, and Sears.
I have a direct linage by marriage with Luther Calvin Durant. Luther was my husbands half uncle from his Grandmothers first husband. Luther's father was Gibby Durant and his mother was Nora(h) Cravens. After Gibby's death Nora married my husbands Grandfather Frank Sears and Frank became his legal guardian when Luther was three. We do not know what happened to him as Nora died between November 16, 1918 and Janurary 9, 1919, and Luther does not show up in the cencus of 1930 with Frank and his 2nd family.
Gibby was half Choctaw. We do not know exactly yet as to when Gibby died. On Rootsweb there is a woman who did an interview and said she and her date were at a dance near Wheelock OK., and the man who was "her corner partner was shot dead by someone in the doorway, just as they were to swing around." The interviewer presumes that they were square dancing. She said that the man's name was Gibby Durant. In the 1910 McCurtain Cty. Nora is found living in with her two brothers-in law Eddie and Louis Durant and a Charles Durant, who I think is actually Gibby, it is correct age for it to be him in Garvin McCurtain Cty. OK.
