PRESERVING THE PAST

From December 21, 1998 to June 4, 1999, ten individuals funded by H.R.D.C and sponsored by C.O.B.R.E.C will be involved in the documentation and preservation of the history of Bay D'Espior.

The community representives involved in this project are - from left to right: Colin Pittman, Dale Willcott, Kerri-Ann Snook, Carla Collier, Sheri Peters, Ken Kelly Leah Marshall, (Bottom Row) Trina King, Pamela Organ, Crstal Hoskins, Curtis Hoskins.

Our goal is to enhance the awareness of our local history while encouraging the development of inter-generational linkages between young people and senior citizens.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
THE PARTICIPANTS WILL CARRY OUT THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES:

Make arrangement for the inclusion of younger members of the community in this project through peer monitoring.
Working in partnership with older residents of the community, local historians, teachers and other professionals.
Design a promotional campaign that raises public awareness of local history and the benefits of inter-generational linkages.
PROJECT OUTCOMES
At the completion of the project, we would like to achieve the following:

A renewal and sustained interest by the citizens in the history of our region and in turn strengthen the community.
A significant amount of the communities history converted to digital format that in turn will assist local historians in designing and planning articles or displays in the future.

An inter-generational connection between children and older residents.
