OPEN EYES

A new world discovered, fascinating as it can be,
brought joy to my aching heart, with wonders to perceive.
Strangers running everywhere, so confident in mooing,
if One's not careful, it can lead to your undoing.

One stops to help you, seeing you are a new(bie),
unselfish, endless hours, teaching you the rules.
Demotion passed upon him, for neglecting his own chores,
friendship ends abruptly, building having closed the doors.

Heartbreak and loneliness, replace what was such fun,
too many memories, to complete what should be done.
Another world awaits me, a critter I shall be,
with a special name, someone gave to me.

If our paths should cross somewhere, be sure and say hello,
don't keep me always searching, for my favorite beau.
New places I shall see, until this pain subsides,
then I can stop searching, in every stranger's eyes.
