Georgia, Clarke County. In the name of God Amen, I Samuel Hester of the county and state aforesaid,being of sound and disposing mind and memory, and calling to mind the uncertainty of life, do make, constitute,and declare this to be my last Will and Testament.

First: I commit my spirit to God who gave it,and my body I wish to be interred in a plain, decent and christian-like manner,and touching my worldly goods, my property both real and personal with which it has pleased Divine Providence to bless me,I give, bequeath and devise in the following manner.

Item. It is my will and desire that all of my just debts be first paid out of that part of my Estate not herein after devised or given away.

Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane Marshall one negro woman named Cota, and one negro girl named Ann, together with their increase, one feather bed and furniture which is now in her possesion,all of which I give to my daughter Jane,and her Heirs forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Sara Houghton, one negro woman by the name of Patty and a negro named Jubar, one feather bed and furniture, and one cow and calf together with the increase of said negro waman Patty,to her and her Heirs forever,which negroes Patty and Jubar are now in her possesion.

Item. I give and bequeath to my son-in-law Thomas Thompson, one negro woman named Eleanor and Dick with their increase forever, also one feather bed and furniture which negroes and bed were delivered to my son-in-law,in the life time of his former wife. Also one cow and calf delivered at the same time.

Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Thrasher one negro girl named Ruth,and one negro girl by the name of Ceny, one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, to her and her Heirs forever, which negroes and property have been heretofore delivered to my said daughter Elizabeth.

Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary B. Wilson, one negro girl Mariah, one negro boy Harry and their increase, one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, to her and her Heirs forever, which negroes and property have been already delivered to my said daughter Mary.

I give and bequeath to my son Thomas G.Hester part of that tract of land known as Walkers tract lying in Greene County on the Apalachia River, beginning on a white oak corner near where the bridge was intended to be built across the Apalachia, then runing to the nearest Davenports spring branch, to Davenports line, also the land I purchased of Thomas Davenport, bounded by Henry Davenports and Thomas Thompson’s land, the two pieces supposed to contain two hundred and ninety acres more or less , also one tract of land known as Hammacks Tract lying in the county of Clarke, containing seventy five acres more or less, also one negro boy named John and a negro boy named Major, one feather bed and furniture, and one cow and calf, and two young steers which said land, negroes and other property I give to my said son Thomas G.Hester and his Heirs forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my son Francis Hester, part of the Walker Tract lying in the county of Greene on the south east side of Davenports Spring branch, containing one hundred acres more or less.Also the tract of land purchased of John Garrett containing two hundred twenty eight acres more or less. Also my fraction land in the county of Morgan lying on the Apalachia River, containing one hundred twenty seven and one half acres more or less. Also two negro boys Brackston and Anthony, one of said negroes, to wit, he has in possession Brackston. He has in his possession also one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, and one sorrell horse called George, which said land and negroes and other property I give to my said son Francis Hester and his Heirs forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Hester, two negro girls Ritter and Phillis and their increase, one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, all of which I give to my said daughter Nancy and her Heirs forever, and which property is now in her possession.

Item. I give and bequeath to my son Robert Hope Hill Hester the tract of land whereon I now live supposed to contain six hundred acres more or less,including the land whereon Francis Marshall and Thomas G. Hester now live and which they now in possession by my permission and untill demanded or untill my son Robert H.H.Hester may demand it of them, after my death.Also I give to my said son Robert H.H.Hester two negroes, one a boy named Jim and the other a woman named Jane and their increase. Also one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, one yoke steers and ox cart, one needle worked bed quilt which was made by his mother in her sixtieth year and requested by her to be given to the said Robert H.H.Hester, her youngest child, all of which property, the land as above described, the negroes and other property as mentioned I give to my said son Robert H.H.Hester and his Heirs forever. The boy Jim now in possession of my said son Robert.

Item. I give to my grandson Samuel Hester one hundred dollars which I wished raised out of my personal property not herein before disposed of, and paid over by my Executors to my son R.H.H.Hester, the father of my grandson, to be kept by him at interest, either in his own or other safe hands, untill my grandson is eighteen years old, then the principal and interest be paid over to him.

Item. It is my will and desire that all my property not herein before devised after the payment of my debts out of the same,shall be divided in the following manner,among my daughters hereinafter named and the legal representatives of my deceased daughters,to wit: It is my will and desire that Sam and Richard Thompson,children of my deceased daughter Barbara Thompson draw an equal share of the same in right of their mother, and that Heirs of Lucy Thompmson draw one share of the same right of their mother,to be paid over to their fatherThomas Thompson,who will act as trustee in the management of same,untill the children of my said deceased daughter Lucy are of age,then be paid to them.It is my will and desire that my daughters Sara Houghton,Elizabeth Thrasher,Mary B.Wilson and Nancy Hester,all draw equally a share of the said residue of my property, share and share alike with the Heirs of my deceased daughters Babara and Lucy as aforesaid.

Item. I hereby nominate and appoint Thomas Thompson,Thomas G.Hester,Francis Hester and Robrt H.H.Hester Executors to this my last will and testament, as witness my hand and seal this 14 day of January 1836.
