Pike Co. Wills 1844-1876

I John HARPER of the county and state aforesaid being of sound and disposing mind doth make and appoint this to be my last will and testament.

It is my will and desire that my wife, Elizabeth HARPER shall have the lot of land on which I now live during her natural life which is known and distinguished by the number 162 together with my household and kitchen furniture for her my said wife to dispose of her part of the bedding and furniture at her death also one horse and mule as she may choose and one sow and one pig of my stock together with my buggy and plantation tools with two cows and calves and four head of sheep and one year provisions all my property that I have left is to resort to my children at her death except her bed and clothing which she can dispose of as she wishes.

Item 2. I desire and direct that my granddaughter Sarah SCOTT shall have a bed out of my present furniture.

Item 3. I desire and direct further that all my just debts be paid out of the balance of my estate both real and mixed be equally divided between all my children viz. Elizer RIVERS, Sarah YARBROUGH, Jane RIVERS, Benjamin HARPER, Martha A. OGLETREE, Emeline CARROLL, Wyat A. HARPER, Tabetha M. WIGGINS, Amanda THOMPSON, Rebecca B. RIVERS, John M. HARPER.James J. HARPER, and Harriet DENSON. By my executor who is hereinafter named.

Item 4. I desire and direct further that my son Benjamin HARPER be unto him I hearby appoint him my executor to this my last will and testament and testomony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the second day of June 1866
