Paintings by Casey Tibbitts

Stately Palms
Oil on Canvas (24"x36") - 2006

My first oil painting, after a composition by Paul Grimm, an early 20th-Century artist whose
landscapes I admire. I was slow to move to oils because I thought them more difficult to work with than
acrylics, but I was wrong. They take getting used to, but their advantages far outweigh their drawbacks.

St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church
Acrylic on Canvas (20"x28") - 2005

Our beautiful church, located in Scripps Ranch. I thought from the moment I first saw it that it would be a wonderful
subject. This painting was on display at the San Diego County Fair in 2005, and now hangs in the church's parish office.

The Botanical Building, Balboa Park
Acrylic on Canvas (18"x24") - 2003

I returned to Balboa Park for my subject here, the wonderfully latticed Botanical Building. This was my first painting
to be publicly displayed, and it won an Honorable Mention ribbon at the San Diego County Fair in 2004.

The Hotel Del Coronado
Acrylic on Canvas (18"x24") - 2003

The Hotel Del, perhaps the most historically and architecturally significant building in the county,
and one of my favorites. Built in 1887, we visit it regularly to stroll the promenade and beach.

The California Tower, Balboa Park
Acrylic on Canvas (18"x24") - 2002

For my first outdoor subject, I turned to my favorite San Diego landmark,
Balboa Park. At this point I was just trying to figure out what I was doing!
