FAMILY NEWS

REUNION 2004 AT TURNER FALLS, OKLAHOMA Wow, what a great time we had. Thirty eight family and friends gathered on Friday the 25th of June at Deer Creek Lodge #4. New to our group were Charlie's cousin Lindberg Jones and his son Mike, and Vivian's old highschool chum Joyce Voss Carter with her daughter Jamie and Jamies brand new hubby. The lake was a disappointment, since even though we have all had rain galore this year, the Turner Falls area didn't get enough to raise the level of the lakes. The fishing was great, but the swimmers took their towels, etc. to the Turner Falls park for swimming and climbing the falls. They all had a ball, but the trip down the river wasn't as much fun as the climb up!!! The lodge itself was wonderful. Larger than #1, it had two lofts, with 8 rooms and the central room was huge. The kitchen was excellent as usual at Deer Creek. As usual, a volleyball tournament proved that fun is more important than scoring. :-) And there were lots of games, horseshoe pitching, fishing, swimming in a pool for the kiddos, viewing of a tape from Susan's family, lessons in Texas Hold'em Poker and "chicken feet dominos" from Harrel, a video game set up that the guys hogged, crafts for the kiddos by Edie, fireworks at night for all of us, Chuck retold the infamous "Aerona" tale while we ate S'mores, and of course lots of eating and lots of socializing and catching up on family "gossip". (of course a couple or three folks snuck out at midnight to hit the casino just a few miles up the road).

Our next get-together is planned for November before Thanksgiving if we can get the Community Center. Food, Fun, and of course our Auction. More Later

Two grandchildren graduated in May!! David Whitney, son of David & Susan, is now attending BYU. Mary Smith, dtr of Charlie, Jr. and Carla, graduated on 21 May. She will be attending Eastfield College in the Fall.

Grandma Josie is doing well. She gets "bored" at home with Edith and Charlie and Vivian all so busy so is going to the Balch Springs Senior activities every day.

We plan the BIG Turner Falls Reunion for 2005 for July. More news will be forthcoming.

Whitney Family Letter

We have several family websites linked at "MyFamily.com" We've tried to notify everyone, but if you didn't get yours let either Viv or Mom know and we will get you on the list. These sites are great for exchanging family news and pictures and there is even a "chat time", for those who want to "talk". The family genealogy is also available there to download to your computer if you'ld like. We want everyone to use these sites. These are definitely user friendly so be sure to post YOUR info for everyone to share.
