The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church, with well over 3 million active members in almost every country in the world. The main aim of the Legion of Mary is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members.
We usually meet once a week on a Tuesday at 2.30pm in the IJ prayer room. We start with the Opening Prayers and conclude with the Closing Prayer. In between there will be Spiritual Readings, Reports of Work, Allocutios, discussions, bonding and Other Relevant Business. We have a Spiritual Director to guide and advice us. Our Spiritual Director is Brother William Chong from the Dominican Order. We also have 4 officers, who would be elected yearly by the members of our praesidium.
-Contact work with our friends like councilling.
-Visit old folk homes and children homes.
-Pray for people.
-Gatherings like BBQs, Welcome Tea, Christmas parties and Secondary 4 farewells.
-Encourage each other and be there for one another.
The Legion of Mary is open to all Catholics who:
-Faithfully practice their religion .
-Are animated by the desire to participate in the Church's apostolate through membership in the Legion.
-Are prepared to fulfill each and every duty which active membership in the Legion involves.
-Are between 12-17 years old and are studying in CHIJ Secondary Toa Payoh.
