About our Order

Historic Photo Collection

St. Augustine Lodge in 1909, photo by Rogero and Pomar.

The above photo, courtesy Florida Archives, Department of State, Tallahassee, Florida, depicts the "Worth House" which was the Lodge's first home. The building was originally constructed in 1791 during the "Second Spanish Period" of St. Augustine's history. The house named after Brevet General William J. Worth, who fought in the Seminole Wars in Florida, was at the time of the above photo located on Marine Street. Subsequently the house was demolished and rebuilt at its present location at the intersection of Marine Street and Avenida Menendez (formerly Bay Street) where it now houses a restaurant. The Lodge later moved to another building on Bay Street before moving to its present location on Anastasia Island.

Lodge of the Month

One of the great things about Elkdom is that other lodges provide a home away from home in which one is always welcome. Each month or so, we will feature the website of another Lodge, some lodges may be modest, some large, but in all one is greeted as a brother or sister. This month,
Deer Trail Colo. Lodge No. 2307.
Deer Trail, pop. 450, lies on the eastern Plains of Colorado and is noted as the site of the very first rodeo. If you are in the neighborhood, turn south off of I-70. Turn right off the hard road onto 2nd Street, a graded street. Lodge is on right after City Hall and the Newspaper. Space can be arranged for R.V.'s at the Fair Grounds.
