Well, I think everyone was wondering if I'd EVER get this page up and running, seeing as though it's been a year since I collected the very first profiles. About as much chance as seeing pigs fly I guess.... well......

It just so happens that I actually have a fair bit to show everyone now, so my apologies to all who have waited so long and I hope your wait was worth it!! :o)
 

     Dia Duit! "Focus on Oz" is an Irish Dancing page which features Champion and up-and-coming dancers from Queensland, Australia. Though the dancers are all individuals and each have their own goals and aims; they all have a few simple characteristics in common. Hard work and Dedication.

    Irish dancing is by no means a simple task; whether it be your hobby or your income. Every Irish dancer has dedicated years of their lives, and until a brand new phenomenon several years ago; it is quite likely they would never have been widely recognised for it. In one simple word. "Riverdance". It brought the world to its feet, and suddenly everyone knew what Irish dancing was. And finally, for these Champions there was an outlet in this show along with others including "Lord of the Dance", "Spirit of the Dance", "Gaelforce" and "Ireland".

    Now Irish dancing is more popular then ever before, and multitudes of people from an array of cultures and age groups are tapping their feet too. Still, out the front are these Champions; the dedicated numbers who started before RD and LOTD and are still going. Irish Dancing is finally COOL! For our Champions it's long overdue; the agony of curlers for the girls have paid off; and for the guys there's no more "A-ha!! You wear a SKIRT?!?". Ahem, Kilt. Not that it wasn't worth the trouble before; but now it's not inconcievable for a TV program to feature a Champion group of dancers.

    Hopefully these long-winded few paragraphs have explained to you why this page was created. To put it really simply, we're in awe! Not everyone can be a Champion and we think it's about time that those who are are paid some credit!!! So....let's meet the dancers!!!!! :
 
 
 

     Having been reminded on several occasions by a musician performing with 'Riverdance' that it's not just the dancers who are the stars in a show, or in this case a feis; it would be unfair to deny you the chance to meet a young man who in musical partnership with Sean O'Brien is making a name for himself throughout Australia. (It just so happens that he has recently taken up dancing too!)
