Get short-term relief from nicotine withdrawal symptoms
with Alka-Seltzer. Drink two Alka-Seltzer tablets dissolved in
a glass of water at every meal. Warning: be sure to read the
warning on the label to make sure that you do not have a
pre-existing condition that could make the Alka-Seltzer
dangerous to you.
Are your elbows rough and/or scaly? Try one of the many anti-fungal
creams, i.e. the kind you'd use for athletes foot, & other foot
fungi.
Cleaning counter tops daily with a mild dish-washing liquid and
water should keep them clean looking. Polish counter tops with
club soda to make them sparkle. Pour club soda on counter and
clean with a soft cloth, rinse with water, and wipe dry.
To determine if an egg is fresh, immerse it in a pot of cool,
salted water. If it sinks, it's fresh - if it rises to the
surface, it's spoiled.

treats in the pan. The marshmallow won't stick to your fingers.
Before you pack your blankets away, remove dust and odors by
tumbling them in a cool dryer (set on cool air only) with a
fabric softener or have them thoroughly cleaned according to
care instructions. When you pack them away, tuck a lavender
sachet in with them. The lavender scent will keep the moths
away and will leave your blankets smelling fresh and clean.
To rid the kitchen of bad smells, put a bowl of water into
the microwave sprinkled with lemon essential oil. Microwave
for a few minutes to heat up the oil.
If you have problem opening jars, use latex dishwashing
gloves. They give a non-slip grip that makes the job easy.
Use Life Savers candy to hold candles in place on your next
birthday cake.
Potatoes will take food stains off your fingers. Just slice
and rub raw potato on the stains and then rinse your hands
with water.
Wash walls from the bottom up, to avoid streaking.
Use old socks as mitts for cleaning chair railing, crown
moldings, stair castings.
Keep the linings from cereal boxes - they make great substitutes
for waxed paper.
To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet
bowl. Let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean.
The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.
To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper
with a crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped
in Coca-Cola.
To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of
Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking
pan; wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes
before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the
drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into a
load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a
regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.
Take a water hose and spray the outside of your house. This
will remove most of the dust and cobwebs from your siding.
On textured siding attach a car-washing brush to the hose
to remove dirt.
To clean window sills, pour a little diluted rubbing alcohol
on a cloth and rub the entire surface. The spots will disappear
and the sills will look freshly painted.
Transfer your jelly to a small plastic squeeze bottle. It is
much easier to handle when you can squeeze it out of the
container. This works well for homemade salad dressing too.
To prevent eggshells from cracking when you boil them, add
a pinch of salt to the water before boiling.
When washing crystal, rinse in 1 part vinegar to 3 parts warm
water. Air dry.
If you must dry the glassware, use 2 day or older newspaper.
You do not want to use new newspaper, as the ink will not be
dry.
The best way to pack glassware for a move is to wrap wet newspaper
around the glassware and let it dry. It will act like a cast
around the glass.
